T/P or anyone,

1999 2.5 with trip tran and 22,500 miles.

Car runs fine - Is there a history of faulty "check lights?"

There are several hundred things that can cause a check engine light. Without the fault code(s) you are shooting in the dark. Go to an Autozone and have them read your codes for free. Then post them here.

Thanks for the Autozone info. Drove 30 miles to Carson City, NV.

Allen of AZ was a great help. The four codes are 1123,1125,1128 & 1130.

He asked me to shut off the engine. He then reset and asked me to start the eng.

The Check Light was gone. Seems OK now. I'm in the process of moving.

No phone or Internet. Using the Douglas county library.

Very odd...

This would indicate that your engine was running too rich for the DME to correct (P1123 & P1125) and also too lean for the DME to correct (P1128 & P1130). I guess the best thing to do is wait for it to come back and read them again.

Weird how it was detected on all six cylinders too (although it could just be a couple of cylinders - one in each bank). When was the last time the car had a service? A weak or delayed spark could cause a rich situation, clogged injectors could cause a lean situation. Since the car is 7 years old with such low mileage (average of 3200/yr), the time-based maintenance schedule should be carried out - not mileage-based.

As Loren suggested, if it comes back read the codes asap. A rich situation is okay for a while, but a lean situation is very destructive to a cylinder.
