PCM problems

Recommended Posts

I have a MY2004 986 S with PCM.

My PCM has not been working properly and despite having been back to the OPC on a number of occasions it is still not fixed.It is under warranty and I am taking it back in again but it would useful to know if anyone has had similar problems and how they were fixed.

The main problems are;

1.The on/off knob will not turn it on-then the PCM seems to turn itself on and off by itself later on,but when it turns itself on it does not come on properly just the white screen and Porsche logo then turns itself off.

2.Sometimes it will start properly and work for say 5 to 15 minutes,then all buttons become inoperative cannot change volume or function etc then usually screen turns black by itself and then turns itself off-sometimes with a "pop"through the speakers.

When it first went back to the OPC they somehow reset things and it worked for about a day before going back to its old tricks.On the second visit they fitted a new amplifier but a day later it is back to its tricks again.

If anyone has any ideas or experienced similar problems it would be really helpful.

Robert .
