My car (986 S) is e-gas and was manufactured in September/October 2000 as MY 2001.

Which Air Mass Sensor is required?

996 606 124 00, 986 606 125 00 or 986 606 125 01.

Also please clarify to me the issue of reprogramming the ECU if you change between versions of the Air Mass Sensor.

Thank you!

Per the TSB the new style e-gas sensor went into production January 31, 2000. So your car has the new style, the one that starts with the 986 part number. The new style part originally ended in 00 and now it ends in 01. I think you can use either without reprogramming.

Reprogramming is required if your car had the old style with the 996 part number and you want to put in the 986 part.
