I am sure this has been addressed in previous posts, but does anyone know what a Boxster's optimal oil level is? I had my oil changed yesterday and the electronic readout on the dash shows it at the maximum fill level. Previous oil changes showed an oil level just below the maximum level mark. Is it possible to damage an engine with too much oil?

I know I should DIY my own oil, but it is way too hot here in Texas this time of the year!

Here you go, I hope this helps:

The engine oil filling capacity for the Boxster has been increased as follows:

Oil change without filter - 8.5 liters (9 quarts), formerly 7.75 liters

Oil change with filter - 8.75 liters (9.25 quarts), formerly 8.25 liters

Effective immediately, the new filling capacities should be used on all Boxsters, retroactively, until further notice.

Please correct your Technical Manual accordingly.

Note: A draining time of 20 minutes is required to attain the proper oil level.

Always confirm oil level by checking the dipstick.
