Air bag warning light...

A nice little story this...

A few weeks ago my air bag warning light came on, so off I went to my local OPC who plugged the old girl into their computer and could find no problem with the car. I was told that this "sometimes happens" and not to worry about it. Next day the light came back on.

So after a phone call to the OPC I booked the car in on the following Saturday for further investigations, their words not mine! After sitting in the showroom for two hours I was told that they still can't find anything wrong and the only thing left to do was to start replacing parts in a blind hope that this will fix the problem!

They reset the computer again, and a week later it's back on. So I went to my local independant who's computer came up with " Ignition circuit coil ". They reset the light and a week later it came on again. Back to the OPC who still say that their is no fault code in the computer, so can't fix the problem. Anybody else had this lovely problem? Or should I use this as an excuse to buy a three spoke steering wheel? :D

Ask your dealer to read TSB 6/99 6924 Airbag Warning Lamp On -- dated Sept 8, 1999. Very likely they need to do the seat belt buckle and grounds retrofit.

I read a message today that an air bag light was caused as a result of the passenger seat being too far back and an angle that caused it to lift a little. Apprently the moved the seat and it never came on again. YMMV

Have been to the OPC with the details of the TSB and they then gave me a price to carry out the work total of £533. 75p ( about $988 )
