Easy...Visor Airbag Sticker Removal

So easy, I learned it from a post by JimR on Rennlist. Much easier than other posts I have seen on this topic. NO need to remove the visors. 20-30 min tops.

I did this to my car...within days of picking it up from the dealer. Very easy to do...and looks great. All it takes is a little patience and rubbing with the denatured alcohol. My only added advice is to make sure you cover your working area real well. You don't want to get any of the alcohol and sticker mixture on your leather or trim.

When you are done. wipe off the visor with a good quality vinyl conditioner/cleaner.

Oh yea, this adds about 5 HP to the car too!! :P

I don't know about the 987/997, but on the 996 you can slide the visors of the stems. It makes it easier and cleaner to work on them.

Removal of the stickers is much easier if you do it on a work bench. Denatured alcohol is not recommended because it can discolor and possibly damage the vinyl used for the sun visors. 91% Isopropyl alcohol (from your local drug store) is much friendlier to the vinyl.

The trick is to take the sticker off in one non-messy piece.

The 987 visors didn’t look like they would come off very easy. At least I was afraid I might break something during the removal process. Maybe someone could provide removal instructions to help others. I didn’t have any bad effects on the vinyl from the denatured alcohol. I guess the smart way to remove the decals is to start with regular alcohol first. Then if that doesn’t work the denatured stuff will for sure.

I also treated with 303 Aerospace upon completion.

A MY05 987 uses the exact same visors as the 986 so they come off the same. MY06 and newer have a new 987 part number but they look like they still come off the same way. See Orient Express's DIY.
