I just bought a 1999 boxster (used) a few weeks ago, Just tried to play a CD in the CD player. I can insert the CD just fine but it does not spin up the disk or scan it to know that it is there. I tried a couple of different CD's with the same result. Could it be dirty or is there something I can do? Thanks.

Yes, they were not much help. However I sat down this weekend and removed the faceplate, cleaned the metal leads and reattached being sure that it was attached correctly. I shut the face plate and reopend it several times to make sure that it had good contact where the gold electrical tabs are located. After that the CD player started working, It does flake out sometimes but it seems ok as long as I carefully close the faceplate with both hands. I think I am going to replace the whole system with an aftermarket rig, I will keep all of the OEM stuff in case I ever sell the care and want to make it stock again.

thanks.
