Driver Window Opening When Door Opens?

Recommended Posts

Just started happening. When the door is opened with or without the key in the ignition, the window opens nearly half way. If you physically swing the door open, it opens all the way down. It's a pain because I have to keep the ignition on to close the window before I can get out of the car. Must be to coinside with the "Omen" I guess? Any ideas? Faulty relay somewhere?

My passenger side started doing that as well and stopped just as suddenly. Now I can't MAKE it happen. I wonder if there is some sensor in the door that tells it how far to drop when the door is opened. If you get an answer to this please post it here. There are at least two of us that are pretty curious about this one.

Thanks!

Thanks Loren,

Now for the next series of questions - Where do I locate the Window Regulator? Is the door microswitch something for the DIY'er of would you recommend the Dealer?

Appreciate the help greatly.

The inside door panel needs to come off to replace either.

The door handle switch is here.

The window regulator is very much like the Boxster (although the door panels are somewhat different).

Well, based on all the information (thanks Loren) I decided that there was too much that could go wrong with a DIY on this one. I am going to visit the service guys at Champion to fix this.

Let you know what the damage comes out to be.

Thanks

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, finally got to the good guys at Champion Porsche and they repaired it in a few hours. Looks like it was the electric motor (#996-624-101-05). Must be some internal parts of the motor that were faulty. Good thing was, it was all warranty work!

:)
