Fuel Pressure Regulator or Evap System Pressure Sensor? Need help wit

Hi,

Shortly after filling-up my 2001 Boxster my check engine light came on. I hooked up my OBD reader and got DTC P0453- Evap System Pressure Sensor- Signal too high. I have cleared the code several times however it keeps on returning.

I believe that the problem could either be the fuel pressure regulator or the evap system pressure sensor. I was hoping that someone might have some experience and could provide some advice how to determine which one it could be. I do have a scan tool which is able to record various engine parameters if anyone has any suggestions as to which ones i should be recording and what sort of output I should be looking for.

Hope someone can help!

Hi Loren,

Your reply is very much appreciated. I have posted this message on a bunch of different forums and no one has even tried to touch it. :cursing:

Just a few stupid questions.....where can I find the evap sensor in order to check the wiring and secondly before I go and start buying parts how can I rule out that it isnt the fuel pressure regulator?? Lastly, any idea what the voltage reading should be for the sensor or what the threshold voltage is that would trip my check engine light??

I plan on taking the car for a spin tomorrow and have my scan tool monitor rpm, fuel pressure and evap system pressure. Im hoping from this that I might see something that will point me in the right direction.

If you haven't changed the fuel filter - I would start with that. A clogged fuel filter can cause all kinds of problems.

If it is not that you will want to test the fuel pressure and see if it is the regulator or the sensor.
