...just like the hack for the boxster? that one was relatively easy i can imagine it would be for the 996. i just had the dealer turn on the OBC on the 996 so i'm ready to hack away.

It is the same for a 996. The 996 has an oval trim piece around the hazard switch that the Boxster does not have.

The only thing to keep in mind is the wiring change that happened in 2001 for the Boxster did not happen until 2002 for the 996. Jeff

Oh, if you want to do it with the stalk at one of our work on cars day I have a set of the 4 wires for a pre 2002 996 or pre 2001 Boxster already spliced. At our last work on cars day a guy showed up with the wrong wires for a 2002 Boxster. I had the correct wires for his year so we traded.

You can sign up here. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=958 We are testing this to see if it is a better way to schedule work on cars days. I will give you a list of parts to order if you decide to do it.

No one will want your 4 spoke wheel. Many of us have swaped for a 3 spoke and we cannot give the 4 spokers away. If you can find a 3 spoke and air bag at a decent price the time to change it is when you do the OBC retrofit as we have to remove the wheel.
