PSE '06 997 C2

I had my PSE installed at Jim Ellis Porsche in Atlanta. I made it clear I did not want the baffles to route the exhaust system to the quieter mode between 30 mph - 45 mph automatically. The mechanic offered a work-around using a relay. In other words the relay bypasses the control the CME exerts over the baffles at those speeds.

I have the twin exhaust button installed beside my sport button. I'm very pleased with the installation. When the car is turned on the baffles are open and the exhaust is louder, pressing the button closes the baffles and returns it to stock. Repressing the button returns it to the freer flowing setting. The sound is great, everything I had expected, and best of all I can turn it quieter with the push of a button. David Mann was my TSA, and Craig was the mechanic. Total cost parts and labor was $3320.00.

I can't wait to run it up beyond 4000 RPM, I have 400 miles to go to 2000.

I saw a Corvette on the way back, and although on paper a Vette beats the C2 in some instances, (Car & Driver 11/04 issue Corvette vs 911). I still felt my car was special, somehow more unique. The C6 is a beautiful car and it has SATELLITE RADIO, but I'm pleased I paid the $$ for a 997 C2. (Sure wish it had the SATELLITE RADION.)

I have PSE in my C2S and it's loud as soon as I hit the Sport button. No need to wait till a higher MPH/RPM.

I also have satellite radio in my PCM. It's from a Cayenne kit. It DOES work! :clapping:

They didn't tell you that between 30-45 mph the exhaust would sound like stock whether or not you hit the button?

Who did your Cayenne kit Sat install? How much?

Do me a favor, ask him about the Cayenne Satellite radio tuner for our cars. Maybe if enough of us ask them they'll agree to do the install.

Nope, my PSE sounds loud as soon as you hit the button. You can hear it change sounds at idle. Goose the throddle and it's loud!

As for the satellite PCM install, Danbury Porsche did the work and it's a $500.00 to $600.00 labor charge for the install. The kit, depending if you have a CD-Changer is upwards of $1300. However, it seems PCA got wind of dealers doing installs w/o proper TIB's etc and have made all the Cayenne kits that were in stock and avalible to not avalible. What I suspect is that a Cayenne owner who wants satellite in their SUV will have to provide a VIN, then PCA will "release" a kit to the dealers parts department.

Some dealers have these kits in stock for Cayenne purchases.

Porsche did respond to a RENNLIST member regarding the whole satellite issue for the 997. WHat was said was that Porsche has yet to get a vendor to correctly mfg a working satelliet/NAV antenna. Sure, the Cayenne one does work, but Porsche wants to improve the kit. Besides, it has to go before all the lawyers and techs to provide a new TIB or guide for dealer install.

It works pretty well. I get drop-outs in the morning when the satellite is low in the horizon and under tree lined roads. Other than that, works well!
