Installing Bra - How to loosen 4 fender bolts?

I am trying to install a factory bra on my MY2003 C2, but I can't loosen the 4 #30 fender bolts to install the tab lock for the bra.

Any ideas how loosen the bolts? They just won't budge. They are a star allen head, and I am afraid I might either break my wrench or ruin the bolts.

You need to break the bolts free as they are painted on. I wrapped the wrench with a couple towels and while pressing hard got it to snap free. Once you get it broken loose the rest is easy.

If you haven't already tried this you can get a #30 Torx head socket for a 3/8" socket wrench. If the socket wrench doesn't provide enough leverage to break the bolts loose, you can try a 3/8" breaker bar.

mffarrell, (sorry I called you Karl in my first post)

Do not use the small Torx wrench that is provide with the Bra. I used a very good set of Snap-On torx sockets for mine with a socket wrench and had no problems. The key is to use a good wrench and the technique that Loren mentions of a lot of pressure so that the torx does not slip.

Go to Sears and purchase a 1/4 drive speedhandle. I did this with fantastic results. In order to get proper leverage, you may have to put one foot inside the trunk! Yes, it's true, but it worked. Ensure even pressure as you're turning the 'handle and the bolts will come out with no head damage.

I used some Liquid Wrench, worked like a charm.
