A/C & Heat Blower Motor

I think the fan on my a/c blower motor has gone out of balance on my '99 C4. Does anybody have a diagram for its location? I would like to diagnose the problem and am curious as to how difficult this will be to replace. It is sending a pretty bad vibration through the dash.

I think I have the same problem. The blower seems to work but recently (earlier this week) started to make a loud noice when turned up. It is bearable at lower fan speeds; but obnoxious at higher speeds.

Would you mind posting or pm me with possible DIY solutions? I think the dealer was quoting something like $800 (or 100,000 yen). Yes, that's yen (I am currently living in Tokyo - but originally from Texas).

Remove and install heater/fresh-air blower motor with installed heating/fresh-air unit.

Removal

1. Remove footwell bulkhead and right air guide. Pull off electrical plug connection on the blower motor and remove wire from the holder.

The figure shows the heating/fresh-air unit when removed.

2. Pull off electrical plug connection on the ballast resistor and undo both fastening screws

on the housing lid.

The ballast resistor and housing lid are a spare part.

Note

When the housing lid is removed, the blower motor is simultaneously detached from its guide. Hold the blower motor and carefully remove it in downward direction.

Installation

1. Install blower motor and fasten housing lid.

2. Tighten fastening screws carefully (plastic housing).

3. Engage electrical plug connections and perform a function test.
