breather hose missing?

I am new to Porsche, :D I have a 97 Boxster. While tracking down 1123 & 1125 cel, I have found a possible missing hose. :help: At the top front of the driver's side head is a plastic[black] Y fitting. It is oringed with 1 six mm bolt retaining it. A hose[with those difficult retainer] runs from the back of it around and through the intake runners and across the engine under the intake system.

The other side of the Y was all oily appearing[which attracted my attention]. Upon close inspection, this side has cross retaining a spring and a white plunger, apparently to allow relief of excess crankcase pressure. I can not believe this is supposed to just vent to atmosphere and be open to the elements that could keep the plunger from sealing. The part # on this Y is 996 107 247 52 with >PA6 GF30< under the part #.

I could find no other opening that this might connect to, but quite alot remains hidden from my observation, any ideas would help. The local parts man[stephen Porsche, East Hartford] had no idea, although I did not have the part # at that time.

I am going to try cleaning the MAF per the 1123/1125 cel, air filter looked fine[no water]. Any reasons why the fuel pressure would go to high, as a possible cause for cel's? Thanks, Dan :D :D

I cleaned this Y thoughly and reinstalled it. I cleaned the MAF with CRC MAF cleaner from NAPA, I cleaned the throttle body and installed a new air filter. The difference was tremendous, quite a bit more enjoyable. I'll just have to see if the codes comeback, 30 miles today was not enough.
