I'm in the market for on '01 or '02 C2. Being a bit of an audiophile, one of the options that sways me a bit toward the '02 is the availability of the Bose audio system.

Is it worth it to hold out for right car with the Bose system or am I better off simply getting an aftermarket system?

If I went the aftermarket route, my budget would probably be $1,000-$1,500 for speakers & CD head unit that I'd install myself. I'm not too keen on having a big sub in the back.

Thanks for your assistance.

This has been discussed many times. Bose is nice, best OEM ever fitted to a 911. It is quite good but is it NOT best. For your budget, you'll probly get better sound with aftermarket but you'll lose the stock look. I would not choose 01 vs 02 based on Bose alone. However, I do believe 02 is better because of numerous upgrades done in that model year over 01. Engine, interior, exterior, aerodymics are all improved. Plus, I don't like the Boxster headlights. If you come across a smoking deal on an 01, then take it if that's what you want. Otherwise, get an 02 and you won't regret it. 02 are still holding their value well for that reason. However, just don't take 02 based on Bose alone.

not worth waiting for. considering the fact that you cannot connect anything to it (Dension has promissed AUXin into MOST for the last two years and have so far failed to deliver) you are better off with non-OEM sound system. probably get more features as well
