From time to time we will set up a work on cars day so you can work on your car with the help of others. This is the place to post your projects. When there is enough interest and a place to work we can schedule a date and take things apart. Who will have the first project for 2004? Jeff

How often do we have these "work on cars" days? I'm trying to pick up a M030 suspension upgrade kit for my '03 986 S. I've never done a complete suspension swap, so would someone here be able to help and possibly provide the spring compressor for the job?

Jeff,

I can offer several for your video shot if you need. Just wondering when the "Work on Cars Day" will be? I don't know if I can wait for too long....

RUF pedals

Aluminum Hand break lever

Door sills

Console Spoiler switch

Hi

Just found this forum. Most interesting for a new guy who likes to work on his car.

Bought a '99 C2 on 4/30. :) Need to do as much of the 30K mile maintenance as I can, and have a TechArt header and exhaust system to install (already). Looks to me like this is an ideal venue for that???

Can you give me a little more info such as do I need to bring my own tools, parts (e.g., filters), and oil? Or is that available for purchase? I'd assume I need to bring it, but want to be sure.

BTW, although I'm located a bit out of the way, Half Moon Bay, my home garage can be used as a site. I have an air compressor and some air tools.

You can count me in for the next gathering if no conflict in schedule.

Thanks.

We have been doing this for a few years. We have done the 15, 30, 45, and 60k service, mostly on Boxsters but more 996s have been showing up.

I bring most of the tools and you bring the parts and beer. Loren is in charge of 996s.

Except for the spark plug change the 30k service on a 996 is easy. And if you have the 4 side electrode plugs you may not need to replace them. Might also want to change the brake fluid.

If there are several projects that take time then I need to know or we end up with too many cars and not enought time for the time we have.

Jeff;

Please reply to my many emails. I like to know where my parts are in the motocycle shop. I will pick them up when I know where to look. Michael and I can't find them anywhere. Gary

Yep, I'd be looking to jump in on a work on cars day also...not much car knowledge, but am an acknowledged expert on buying and bringing beer!

I want to add the B&M short shifter and EVO link I just received from Brandywine (due to recommendation by Tool Pants, thanks man) to my '99 Box. Any ideas on a date and place? I am in Mountain View, but with no garage and small driveway so difficult to do here...more than happy to travel.

Cheers. Jim

Hey

I no longer need help working on my '99 996 C2 as I had the 30K mile service done, and am now selling it....Because I bought a '96 993 Twin Turbo!!! :) But, I'm still interested in getting involved in the next DIY Day.
