Rear Storage Box for 996 Coupe


Firstly, I have to confess that this was my brother's idea, and he was the first to do it on his '99 C4. We have always been frustrated with the lack of storage space, for stuff that you want to keep out of sight, like portable satnav, camera, jacket, etc. The platform is made of 6mm (1/4") MDF board. Mine is covered in a leatherette I got from eBay which isn't quite a perfect match for the savannah leather, but is extremely close to the carpet colour. My brother used black alcantara for hi

http://www.gulffabrics.com/ is the U.S. source for Alcantara. I know I've seen someone post about UK suppliers but I can't remember where it was.

Try eBay.uk Item number: 8064227817 or look in the 'Crafts' section. I spoke to my brother this morning, and he actually used a black faux suede material he got locally - not genuine alcantara as I first thought. It looks the business, though.

Nicely done. I usually don't have much to fill up the trunk so never had the need for this. It looks very nicely done especially when viewed from exterior.

Just a note to add that I spend a couple of hours fitting a nice pair of Pioneer TS-E6996 to the storage box:
