996.111.984.01 - PSE

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've just recieved a PSE kit from a part co in the UK for a 2003 996 model cab.

The exhausts are numbered 996.111.984/985.01, but I see the latest model ends .03. They look like the 03 model (per the pics on Carnewal) so looks like the right one for a 3.6 l car, but is there any difference between the models?

Cheers,

Tim

As long as thay are the "big tube" design they will work on any 996 (as shown on Carnewal.com).

It is the "small tube" version that Porsche says to use only on 3.4 liter cars.

Thanks Loren,

So is the last number (01) just the year of manufacture, and no difference in performance / noise? I've only saved a small amount over buying direct from Porsche, so want to have the latest model.

Cheers,

Tim

No, the last number is the version in this case. Small changes or different vendors. They all sound the same to me.

Loren,

I have the opportunity to get a used set of PSE mufflers for a pretty good price. I have a '04 C2 Coupe but the PSE is coming off a '99 C2 Cab. If the '99 PSE is the "large tube" design (I have not seen any pics yet) would they sound the same as the '02 - '04 version of the mufflers?

Also, do you have part numbers for '99 - '01 PSE mufflers and for '02 - '04 PSE mufflers?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Tim

IMHO yes. I can not hear any difference to 2 or 3 large tube versions.

There are too many to list here. Get me the part number off one of the mufflers - that will be enough to tell.

Ok, I will do that. Thanks for the quick response!

Thanks Loren but I'm looking for an original Eisenmann PSE approved for road use (OEM version).

These exhausts all have the same reference number except for the last two digits and I can't figure out which references to choose (00, 04, 05...) that are compatible with a 996 4S (and if possible with big tubes)..

On one site, I'm told that they have the part number that ends with 05 "big tubes" for a great sound (112dB). But do all 05s have a big tubes ? On another site, I see one ending in 00 but I don't know if it's a big tube and if it's compatible with a 4S...

What Carnewal sells is OEM Porsche parts.

I doubt there are any small tube exhausts left that are new. If order from a Porsche dealers their parts list will always show the latest updated part number and I think the big tube exhaust has been around since 2002.

I can't figure it out... you tell me that the reference is 996.111.984.03 and 996.111.985.03. At the same time I have just received a response from Eisenmann who tells me that the only reference for a 996 4S is 996.111.984.05 and 996.111.985.05. And I have a friend who has a 996 4S with the reference 996.111.984.01 and 996.111.985.01…! 🤯 Are these not simply different periods of production? From what I know, the kit currently offered by Porsche is no longer necessarily manufactured by Eisenmann. So is the sound so good...? It's a mystery.

Yes, there was likely an 04 version as well as 05. Any version 03 to 05 should work on a 3.6 liter car.
