Vehicle Type:  911 Carrera (996) / 911 Carrera 4 (996)

Model Year: MY 2003 (3)

Concern: Replacement of the key remote control.

Information:

This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Service Action on certain 2003 model year 911 Carrera (996) and 911 Carrera 4 (996) vehicles, equipped with key remote control (keyless entry) system. The remote release of luggage compartment and/or doors will not function at times. Faulty internal key remote transmitter drivers for the 315 MHz remote control will cause this condition. However, even with a faulty remote control, owners will still able to unlock doors mechanically with the car key or by using the handles from the inside the vehicle, as per the methods described in the Owners's Manual. Therefore, we ask that the affected vehicles listed below have both key remotes replaced (spare key not affected) during the Porsche Owner's next visit to your workshop.

Affected Vehicles:

A total of 312 U.S. and 23 Canadian vehicles fall within the scope of this Service Action.

Very Important! Not every vehicle in the below listed range may be affected. Use the ranges below as a general guideline.

The list is too long to post here. Contributing Members get full access to available TSBs ;)
