Passenger window not working

Yesterday my passenger window stopped working for some reason on my 98. I had noticed that it was slightly slower than the drivers side since I got the car but it still went up and down strong. I checked the fuses and nothing was blown. Then I reseated the switch in the console but still get nothing. I hear no sounds at all coming from the passenger side door when I hit the switch. How do I check to see if the regulator or the motor has gone bad? I've done some searches on it but I haven't found anything to test the problem.

It may be possible that the regulator is in fact the problem. I just replaced my drivers' side, and I had a regulator problem in an altima. My boxster made a grinding noise whereas my old Altima stopped functioning all together. It turns out that the regulator was tangled up to the point where the motor couldn't wind any more.

i just pulled the inside of my passenger door off. i was getting scratching noises when i cycled the window. eventually it got to the point where the window would not move anymore. i believe that the scratching is this frayed cable rubbing against the window and the rails that it runs on. if your window didn't have symptoms before, it could be the conv top microswitch or something else. but here are the pics i took. getting the window and the rails out are a real PITA!!! i'm assuming that your driver's side window works, so it's probably not the microswitch. i hope these pics help.

in the pics, it looks like the cable has rusted and snapped. i imagine this is from water getting in the door and the subsequent evaporation process.

So I got the door panel off and used a multimeter out to check the voltage. The switch was fine so I took the plug off the motor and found the problem, the brown and yellow wires had somehow been cut. After some soldering and electrical tape everything was all better. Thanks guys.
