2003 996 Targa Option Codes

Recommended Posts

Recently purchased 2003 996 Targa has option 226,288 listed on under-hood label.

All searches say 288 is "Headlamp Washers" but I don't have them. Also, can't find any info on code 226.

Any ideas????

Is this a US/Canada car or RoW?

226 - could be a country code or perhaps it is 236 - 18 inch tires

288 - Headlight washers

Perhaps someone removed/replaced the headlights with the washers built-in.

Thanks. Car has only 4500 mi and is prestine so I can't imagine someone removed the washers. Thanks for the help anyway. Trying to get the dealer to assist me.

For your model, the headlamp washer nozzles are hidden by a circular piece of chrome trim and pop up from the head lamp when activated. In other words, you can't see the nozzles unless there spraying. Maybe that's why you think you don't have them?

The stalk that works the wipers also activates the headlamp washers. Simply push the lever towards the dash, away from you. But, they only activate/spray when the lights are on.

This is a coventional light (non Litronic xenon). ¿Are you sure that your head lamps are like this?

What is the significance of this style of light?
The type in your post fits MY02 and newer 996 Carrera's that have the "face-lift" fenders and bumpers. The one in the pic also happens to be Bi-xenon (as opposed to standard Halogen).
