If you have a PST2 it is available at power up using the F1 key. I'll upload a copy here.

PST2_Manual.pdf

Thats great but is there one for what it can and can't do ? I assume most things have a help file but is there a function by function guide?

Each section of use is covered (somewhat) in the workshop service manuals for each model - for specific functions. Some TSBs also have limited instructions to perform the check or changes needed on the TSB.

To my knowledge there is no manual for what it can and can't do.

What (specifically) do you want to know?

The ODII manuals have a very brief section about how and what the PST2 will do.

Here's a Quick Start Guide I made a while ago:

And here's how to change units:

Hi Richard,

You seemed very knowledgeable on PST2.  Is there other detail information I can find somewhere?  Something like how to program a key or reset the car to readiness?

Thanks, Eugene

Other instructions for key programming etc. can be found in the paper versions of the service manuals (17 volumes).

Loren,

Thank you for the information.  I have a real PST2 (not the PC version); how can I obtain the paper version of the service manuals.

Unfortunately, Porsche stopped making the print versions of the manuals some years ago, so you are limited to doing an internet search for someone selling a set.  You also need to look for the turbo version, which is different from the standard 996.

I have had my PST2 for about ten years now, and would you believe I have never pressed the F1 key on the first screen and so had no idea it had the manual built in!!

I had the paper version of the manual and quick start with it when I brought it and looked after those manuals as if they were gold dust, and all along there was a built in manual!!

I had to just boot it up and try it, I feel like such a dumbass!
