Hi - My car hunts sometimes at idle - it idles at 600rpm (on the tacho), but every 10 seconds or so the idle speed increases (to about 800rpm) and then drops back to 600rpm. It doesn't do it all the time.... This is a C4 fitted with the electronic throttle. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Derek

You might try cleaning your throttle body and MAF sensor first to see if that quick effort resolves your problem.

While you are back there too, before or after cleaning the MAF, look also for all the airbox connectors to be be tight. May be sucking some air too through a loose hose. Check the air filter too. get all the screws secured around the air box, hose clamps, etc. May need an air filter too. Cracked airbox also, just in case.

If it only does it on occasion as mine does, I find it happens when the AC is on or the fan is at high speed and possibly drawing more power so the engine speeds up to cover the battery draw?
