Greetings to all,

Am very new to forums,so bear with me! Owned 1981 911SC since 1985 and imported from U.K into Malaysia. Took over from dad 9 years ago. Car has nasty oil leak where oil leaking onto heat exchangers causing severe smoking thro oil burning.looked underneath and seems to be coming from middle of engine and NOT oil sump as suspected! I think the crankshaft oilseal is culprit. Can anyone out there comfirm if you've had similar problems and what's solution? The obvious answer is to drop the engine and replace oil seal but will i get heart attack and find bigger leak?!

Warped valve covers?

Only way to really tell is to steam clean the bottom of the engine. Then put the car on a hoist while it is running to see where the leaks are starting from.

there is an oil sending unit at the very front of the engine, hard to see under the air box by the vent hose plate. this will leak and dump oil on the exhaust
