I ran across a guy with a NAV system for sale, but he is not sure if it is from a 2002-2003 C4S or one of the Boxsters his family has had (1999 0r 2002). I can't tell much from the picture he sent (attached).

Does anyone know if either of these possible models would work in my 2003 986 ? If so, what is it worth ?

I'd say from the pictures its a very early vintage of PCM, more likely PCM1. I would hold out for a late version PCM2 with the latest software.

That's kind of what I thought looking at it.

The guy who has it says the part numbers on the units are:

996.642.105.03 EFR

996.642.102.01 EFR

He says he can't tell if it is CD based or DVD based.

Those parts are from a pre MY2000 car. Those are very old PCM1 units that were replaced by Porsche in MY2000. They only work with instrument clusters from those model years also. They can not be firmware upgraded and would be a lot of trouble to put in a MY03 MOST based car.

You want a PCM2 - there is a DIY for PCM2 here.
