Boxster S EGas

Just a quick question, does any one know if a 1999 Boxster S will be fitted with EGas?

I believe egas started in the Boxster in MY00.

There is also no such thing as a 1999 Boxster S - the S didn't start until 2000, and thus, all S's are eGas.

I have had some one say this before....

There is such thing as a 1999 Boxster S.....cause I have one, It was registared in 1999, its a 3.2 Boxster S. It have never have an engine change and is registard as an original Boxster S, Feel free to pay me a visit if you need proof

So therefore, did EGas start in MY00 or will my 1999 one have EGas as well??

He is in the UK. They have a registration system that has been explained to me several times on the UK boards, and it still does not makes sense.

There is a guy on boxa.net who has a 2004 987, but the 987 was released as a model year 2005. Go figure.

The first MODEL year for e-gas was 2000 when the 2.7 and 3.2 came out. Some of those cars were made and sold in the second half of 1999, but in the US when they were registered they were registered as 2000 models, not 1999.

Model years 1997-1999 were all 2.5 and they all had cable operated throttles.

Seem strange, does this mean that UK get releases before the US?

The Car I have is a Porsche Boxster S, 3.2 litres, black, and was first registard on 23/09/1999 so the 2nd half of the year. I have done a number of HPI checks and this is all legit.

Therefore, do I class this, in US terms, as a MY00, or is it a MY99.

If no one is able to say yes or no to if it has EGas cause of the MY confussion, is there any easy way of checking physically?

Correct MY changes for Porsche in the US is August 1. So if your car were built August - December 1999 it would be a MY00 in the US.

What does Scouser's VIN Decoder say for Manufacture Year?

It say,

Made in: West Germany

Manufacture: Porsche

Model Type: Sports Car

Manufacture Year: 2000

Assembly Location: Stuttgart

Vehicle Type Designation: 3rd digit 986 Boxster S

Body/Engine Code: 3.2 Litre

So I guss its a MY00, which is call, just shame it was not registered in 00, It would be worth slightly more then (a year newer)!!! hehe

So this will have EGas?? Yes??

You have a model year 2000.

If your car was built as a model year 2000 but registered in the US on September 23, 1999, then it would be registered as a 2000 model.

Different rules in the UK.

I think there are two registration dates/months per year in the UK. So if you want a newly purchased car to be registered as a "newer" car then you don't drive the car until the next registration period starts. Or something like that. The UK stuff is confusing. That is how a 987 owner on boxa.net ends up with a 2004 - he could not wait unit the next registration period.

For the 4 stalker try the UK boards, but you are not going to find a cheap one unless it is used. Parts are much more expensive in the UK than the US. Sometimes when UK people visit the US on holiday they buy it here in the US.
