Hello,

I am bringing my 91 964 out of mothballs. The battery after charging would not start the car. As a matter of fact after I put the charged battery back into the car, there was "no sign of life" whatsoever, no clicking, no internal lights, etc.. So either the battery will not hold a charge, or there is a fuse or breaker that has tripped. Two questions:

#1 Is there a circuit breaker/fuse in-line with the battery that could trip/blow that would give me the symptoms I mentioned? Or could this just be a bad battery?

#2 Battery suggestions...is Optima the only way to go? Where is the best place to purchase them.

Thanks,

Mark

Have you tried any simple voltage measurements on your battery? Any multimeter will show if your battey is holding charge. A quick test is to load the battery for 1 minute by switching the headlights on, then after the minute switch everything off and measure the terminal voltage. If lower than 12.5V, the battery either needs a deep charge or probably renewing.

How old is the battery? Typical life is three to five years.
