:help: Hi I am a new member finaly found my 1999 996, silver - w - black leather. I look forward to contributing as I do most of my own work. what I would like to know is the proper type of lube I should use as I just bought a B&M shift kit and it came with no lube?

The $100.00 kits on eBay are not real B&M. I asked the guy and he said it is high quality 'no name brand'

:oops: Alan C is right it's not a B&M: my bad. I installed the (no name brand) shifter this morning, very simple install if you know what you are doing. I have never driven 996 with the B&M but I can say the (no name) shifter is a vast improvement over the stock unit, a bit stiffer than the stock unit but I feel the precise action is a good trade off. I hope I did not mislead any one with my previous post.

Hmm... looks just like a B&M to me...

That's the idea. The shifter is actually made by Top Speed. They basically take something soemone else has made and copy it in Asia. Most of the products are actually of good quality. I would expect this one to be up there. I've bought their shifters and strut braces for other cars in the past and they always fit and functioned right.
