My name is Mel and I have recently taken delivery of a gt3.

Does anyone know what cd changer I can add to the cdr 23 porsche audio system that is standard with the car.

The CDR-23 in the GT3 does not have an external amplifier. It also doesn't have the MOST bus cable, so you will definitely need that. You may also need to have someone with a PST2 enable the headunit to recognize the CD changer instead of the single CD unit in the head.

The CDR 23 does have MOST bus and can be connected to the CDC-4.

Can you connect a normal external power amp w/o the most connection to the CDR 23 in a GT3???

To connect non-MOST components you will need to add any wiring needed by those components (MOST is optical). You will also need to have your dealer remove the CDR23 from the MOST computer by disabling it with a PST2.

If you are adding or removing MOST (fiber optical components) the MOST controlling computer(s) need to know what parts are activated. All the cars computers are programed by the Porsche PST2 (system tester). The MOST system is an all or nothing system. That is, you can not mix and match MOST components with non-MOST (conventional) components.

Understood you cannot mix and match MOST and non-MOST. However all the documentation I've read on MOST states it supports self-discovery and self-configuration. Of course, a master component (probably the head unit here) needs to support that, and perhaps the Becker head unit (part of the CDR23 factory install) does not, hence the required PST2 configuration.

Does anyone manufacture an analog line-in -> MOST component that can be added to the factory CDR-23 system to provide input to an analog device such as an MP3 player?

Oasis - maker of MOST chipsets and prototyping tools, has the MOSTWave that would seem to indicate such a device has already been considered.
