I don't think the color code was ever used in the VIN - at least not to my knowledge. Look in the front trunk for plate with the VIN and color codes on it.

Please do not type in ALL CAPS - on the web that is SHOUTING - thanks.

Say, I'm pretty sure on the drivers fwd door jam was a small ID plate that listed a color code for the 914... the vin# will not ID the original color, only make, year, production #. If that small plate/label is gone, I'd loosen the door panels take a peek, or peel back some felt from the front trunk, take off a turn signal housing and that might shed some light... most times shops/people just tape off those things before paint.

Hope this helps some... there some great books out there for the 914..lots of info... browse the internet or ebay and you should find some as well...:)

Aloha

Mike
