Can the PSE system be installed by owner in garage?

Anyone done this and have advice?

Are there detailed instructions and/or phtographs for this installation?

Would like information & feedback on:

Installation with the on-off button

Installation w/o the on-off button

This would be for non-Chrono 997.

Thanks

There is a TSB for the PSE installation on a 997 -- it is 16 pages long and covers all possible options.

Contributing Members can view the TSBs here online.

It is a piece of cake to install a PSE on a 997. It is even easier than a 996. Buy me a couple of beers and I will come over and guide you through the install.

That would be great, but I think your over estimating your land speed from the SF Bay to Central Texas (north of Austin). A nice gesture on your part. Guess I can't quite get my mind around taking my car apart. I am one of those owners that opens the door with a soft cotton diaper! Yeah, its sick. Anyway, I'll do it, since the cost to install by dealer is a lot of $$$. So, any general tips would be appreciated and I may get back to you when I get half way and wonder what in the world was I thinking. Thanks

Have made donation as of tonight. Now, how do I access all TSBs and this one in particular?

By the way, the contact at Sunrise said, 'I have some install service bulletins the techs use, not much help to DIY'ers but better than nothing. It's an 8 hour shop job, big. Remove bumper cover and running wiring harness to the center console, so lots of interior work.'

Hope the TSB you are referring to is something better than what Sunrise is talking about. Or maybe he is just a pessimist!

Thanks

The TSB will have more detail than you likely want. Most of the techs I know read the TSBs then after they have done a few they don't need to refer to them again.

:offtopic: There is a reason why mechanics in the airline business have to follow the work order line by line even if they have done the job a thousand times before. I changed my mechanic because he obviously NEVER read the manual for the adjustments necessary on my passenger side window.
