I have recently picked up my 996 C2 and am very pleased, however when I plugged my phone charger into the cigarette lighter there is no power (nor does the cigarette lighter itself work).

Does anyone have any ideas how can I trace the fault (bearing in mind that I only have 'basic technical capability')?

Thanks.

If the key is on and the fuse is good, you are going to have to dig into the area behind the plug (search the forum, there are how-to's) and use a tester light or ohm meter/multimeter to trace back to the short or disconnect. Good luck!

Thank you for your posts. I had checked the fuse and it was fine, however you encouraged me to check again. There are two fuses - one in row C for air con, ..., cigarette lighter (RHD), this is what I checked the first time as mine is a RHD car, there is also a fuse in row D just for cigarette lighter which I have checked and, you guessed it, was blown. Problem gone!

Many thanks.
