hey guys!

my 04 c4s is doing very well. however, it has around 8k miles now and i just noticed extreme tire wear, espeically for the rear tires.

i think i have maybe 1/3 of an inch remaining on the rear and about 1/2 of an inch remaining on the fronts. is this normal tire wear? i know the oem tires are pretty soft compound. is it because i am driving using the summer tires through the winter?

i was thinking about going with 19" techart rims, but any recommendations on tires that will last a little longer? i think i'm not too aggressive of a driver, but i guess i am? hehe, anyways, anybody else experience this? how many miles are you guys getting with your tires?

i think the worse tire wear i ever had as on potenza s-03s on my S55 that lasted me maybe 15k miles, but i think the rear on the porsche will only last me a few thousand more...

You should expect to get 10,000 - 12,000 miles out of the rear rubber and at least twice that out of the front. Normal based on the suspension specs.

Rear tire wear on my Boxster S with sports suspension has always been at around 8,000 miles no matter what make of tires I use.

I went through Pirelli Asimetrico,Pirelli Rosso, Continental Sport Contact 2 and Michelin Pilot Sport without any change in wear.

No wear on Front tires, always as new.

The M030 is partly to blame. The C4S is also fitted with the sports suspension.

Also I never use the car in town, so all the mileage is motorway or fast secondary road driving.

There are trade-offs; if you want sticky tires that really handle well, then you will burn through them within 12k miles, less if you push the car. Sure you can find plenty of tires that will last longer, but you'll pay for it in performance big-time. Stick with good ones. Check out discount tire online to find the right tire and you may even save some money at the same time.
