Sounds like (excuse the pun) another electrical project.

The Boxster amp has 4 channels unless you have DSP (which comes with rear speakers) or Bose or a 2003. 996 has 6 since some of them also have rear speakers in the back next to those tiny things you call rear seats.

When we install a rear speaker kit on a pre 2003 Boxster we hook the speakers up to the back of the radio head and there is not much volume. I bet he wants to hook up rear speakers to the 2 extra channels on a 996 amp.

Sounds like an interesting project. Jeff

Pinouts of the Output would be great.

I already the 996 amp connected in my 986. With the default wiring it allows me to fade from the front speakers to the door speakers. (Which actually allows for a little more bass punch)

Anyway, I ordered one of the rear speaker kits and I want to use the extra 2 channels to power the them instead of going to the head unit.

hey Loren,

do you have any good suggestion or recommendation to replace the orginial 996 AMP (w/ speakers at the back)?

would like the AMP to be small so it could fit back where the original is installed.

would be cool if you also could send me the scheme for the original AMP!

cheers,

Tony

I am having a hard time finding my oem amp on my 2000 C4. It has 6 speakers and the OEM Nav, (pcm1 or 2 how can I tell?) but I have torn apart the trunk and there is no amp in there. Where could it be? Perhaps there isnt one?

It was in the trunk on the passenger side behind the interior wall. ;(

Nada, Ill have to check this list, but I thought in order to get the 6 speakers you get an amp too. Thanks for the tips guys.
