Hi

Trying to find a good 3.4 engine for my swap project.

I found a nicely priced one, with 6-speed transmission included, and 996 computer, year 2000.

Can I also fit the transmission in my 1998 standard 2.5 Boxter?

Does the computer work with the rest of the components of my car? On other posts the original computer is reprogrammed and the original wiring harness is used.

Many thanks

Kare

The 996 transmission turns is a different direction due to the rear engine.

Well, at least I would have the Guiness Record of the fastest vehicle on planet going...backwards!

The fact the 996 engine and trans face different ways shouldn't be a big deal. This is the same issue as installing a 911 (915 or G50) trans in a 914, in those cases you just flip the ring gear, same thing should be do-able for the 996 trans I would think. I have never looked but does the shift linkage connect to the trans the same on a boxster and 996 trans?
