Hi,

i have startproblems with my Porsche. It's a European P911 build 6-73 2.7 engine G-series model 1974.

My mechanic has done a lot of work on it now, and is crying out for help now.

The problem:

9 out of 10 times, he starts, but the 11th time it will not start, and it seems that the starter motor is blocking or not turning around at all. According to Hayes, the starter engine is a 0.8HP Bosch. The starter engine in it is a 1HP Bosch, and has been revised already. By replacing it with a 1.2HP Bosch, it almost wouldnt start at all. The battery is allright. Most of the cabling, ground cable and so on have been changed and checked already. The generator has been revised. Is someone familiar with this kind of problems??

Tks,

Jelle

An update on the car.

I picked him up yesterday, and have had a lot of fun already.

We don't know yet what exactly was the problem, but we have

confidence that the problem is away.

Tks,

Jelle

there was a hot start update, where you mounted a ford type starter relay in line to the starter. modify the wiring on the starter and this helps the hot soak start problem

Update

Tks for advise,

I have had the car for a couple of weeks now, and the start problems are over :jump:

My mechanic will give me a list of parts that has been replaces/refurbished.

The exact location of the problem hasn't been marked, but i can live with that.

I am finally enjoying my Porsche

Tks everyone for advises, it helped my mechanic in getting the car ready for me

Jelle
