I just picked up a 996 tt last Sat. I drove it from Oklahoma to AZ and have driven it in Arizona this week. THe check engine light came on last night and I took it to the Scottsdale dealer this morning and the error fault came up as-

P1358 Camshaft Adjustment, bank 2

intermittent

not present

Lamp on

How serious is this?

The dealer said not a big deal. I am planning on driving it to Utah today or tomorrow and the service guy said no problem. Is he right?

There was also 83 ignitions, range 2 (I swear it wasn't me)

Thanks a lot-

Do you have the records on this car? It sounds like *somebody* did a cam cover reseal and didnt keep everything lined up like they were supposed too.

I would'nt worry about it.

Well after they pulled the motor they found some camshaft seals were deteriorated and are replacing the camshaft and a modulator or something so it will be about 7 grand to fix. Just out of warranty too so I get to pay it after having the car only a week.

Agreed get the records!! If someone at a dealer futzed with it you can say they did it and get them to fix it for you.
