tire help please - what's the max % tire height difference?

Recommended Posts

i keep seeing 3% figure as the maximum tire height difference, front to back, though i have never seen it in the manual. is it there?

basically, i am looking at a set of toyo ra1's for my track wheels. sizes 245-40/18 and 305-35/18 on 18x8.5/11 wheels. front diameter is 25.6 and rear is 26.3, the percent difference being 2.7%. will these sizes screw up the ABS?

Since Porsche specifies exact tire sizes in the owners manuals and in a yearly published TSB I doubt it is written down anywhere.

The ABS system is reading the speed sensors on each wheel hub so if the system senses enough difference it could trigger too early or too late or even shut down ABS with an error.

I would call the tech guys at Tire Rack or Wheel Enhancement and see what they say about a 2.7% difference.

I have read from the gt3 guys that disconnetcing the abs = flat spotting fronts etc. and is generally known as not an improvement, even considering threshold braking etc.

Give the Toyo's a try and disconnect the ABS.
