Hello: On a 2001 996C2 with litronics, I have noticed that my left front parking light (below the headlight) does not come on (figured the bulb blew). However just the other day it was on. Originally thought it was the bulb, but why would it come on again. Anyone ever see this problem?

I have not yet replaced the bulb... my thoughts are faulty bulb connection? or is the bulb dying?

It seems like something silly, all other lights in the cluster illuminate.

Thanks,

Ross

It could be either the bulb, bulb socket. The headlight assembly can be accessed through the front trunk liner. You can swap bulbs to see if that fixes it. Clean the contact with a contact cleaner while you've got it taken apart too.

I doubt if it's the switch but that's very prone to failture as well. Since parking light comes on when you have the headlights on and you are not having headlight issues, I'd think the switch is OK. It's easy to take apart the switch I think so that's another area to check.

Had a similar situation with my turn signal lamps and fog lamps on my 04 C2 Cab. I just removed the headlight assembly and slid it back in securely. It seemed to remedy the problem so I assume that it was a poor contact in the plug that the assembly mates with. I had recently replaced my fog (driving) lamps with a pair of silverstar so I had removed the headlights at that time. That probably was the cause of the poor connection.

Good luck

Mike
