Some help on some codes, please...

Hello to all,

i am in the market for a 996 and have found an MY03 that really interests me. I have read & learned many things on this excellent forum & am hopefully going to continue learning & contributing a lot!!!

I got a copy of the service book & am trying to see what every code is. I have found most of them, but some are missing. If someone can help me decode the last of them i would be very grateful! The ones that are missing are the following X97, X98, 226, 09991, 10001. In addition, can someone tell me whether all the MY03 996's have rear limited slip dif or was it an option. Some of the options that are not stated in the codes are sunroof, PCMII, rear wiper, PSM, Heated seats, Leather interior & White dials.

X97 an X98 are special order items likely deviating stitching.

09991 means manufacture from the exclusive-programme which simply means where Exclusive Program special orders.

I have no idea what 10001 is.

Only MY99 Carrera's had LSD as an option - after MY99 PSM took the place of Traction Control and LSD. So a MY03 does not have a traditional LSD it has PSM.

Thanks Loren!!! The car does have PSM, as well as PSE & Sport chassis! Looking forward to getting the car, i hope everything will be ready the first week of January!

Hi again... There seems to be some problem with the dealer who has the Carrera 2 so i found another car that interests me. It's a late MY02 Carrera 4 (registration 3-1-2003), black with almost the same stuff as the MY03 Carrera 2 (registration 17-11-02), but without the PSE & Sport chassis, instead it has Parktronic.

Any major changes between late MY02 & early MY03???Should i go for the Carrera 4 or just wait & find something else with PSE & sport chassis?

I am really pissed with the dealer...

Not much different in MY02 to MY03. Radio, optional amps, minor instrument and climate control display changes. Running gear (engine, transmission, suspensions) did not change.
