i hear a whistling noise when im driving my car at 50mph and over... does anyone know where it's coming from? a/c grill maybe? is my car just running smoothly fast?

my passenger side is missing that black screen located directly behind the headrest.. perhaps, as air passes through it whistles..

It is unlikely to be the windscreen. Often these sounds come from panel gaps. Likely causes are side-view mirrors, hood height adjustment, twisted rubber gasket around windshield, door latch adjustment, loose front quarter panel or side light.

Does a passenger hear the same sound? from the same place?

Do the gaps between the various panels (doors, hood, lights) look fairly uniform? Are they flush?

i just noticed that there's a huge dent on the left side front bumper directly below the hood... i just bought my boxster recently and didn't notice that dent was there nor did the previous owner pointed it out.. the dent is hardly noticeable cuz of its black color and the paint is not scratched.. i think that's causing the whistling noise.. im gonna have to pop it back out

Have you figured out the whistle yet? I have a quite annoying whistle from the passenger side, only when the top is down and windows down. It occurs between 50 mph and 75 mph. It is apparently the speed of the wind over some gap or feature, but which one? I drive a new '05 base Boxster (love it). I heard the exact same whistle at the exact same speeds with the top and windows down in an 05 S I test drove. The whistle is uniform (no warbling) and is not audible with the top and windows up, which is rare for me. It's tough to schedule a trip to the dealer. Suggestions? Anyone else experience the same problem?

The whistle is caused by the horizontal sean in the mirror. My dealer knew of the issue and had a fix (apaprently in a bulleting from Porsche). They were able to correct the issue for me.

Try lowering the front edge of the front hood so that it is slightly below the bumper. This has fixed it for me. Before i read about this cure on a different Board, I thought the whistle came from all sorts of places and it was impossible to isolate its source.
