Need a confirmation on a rumor for Cayenne V8

I am chatting with a friend about the V8 versions of Cayenne. She claimed that one of her friends had mentioned to her that when driving at certain speed, the on board computer would shut off 4 of the cylinders to save some fuel. Is it true?

By the way, the route I travel has a daily traffic jam. I only get 13.7MPG for my Cayenne v6. Is it normal?

Hi,

Bosh in Germany also market a similar system here in Europe to other car makers and is typically seen on larger engines where the cost savings are greatest.

As an aside the fuel type will also affect this figure as will air temperature, here in the UK i typically see about 19-21 during the winter (on 98 RON) dropping to 16-18 during the summer and I've seen 14 with 95 RON fuel.
