The screen washers on my year 2001 (uk model) gt2 have failed. I've had the screen wash pump out and found that works but that its not getting any voltage when i pull on the screen wash lever. I couldnt find a fuse specific for this item, does it not have one and does it have a relay of some sort?

Any ideas folks?

If the wipers work then the fuse is fine.

Does the intermittent control work on your wipers?

Does your car have a rain sensor?

Both require relays to work.

The intermittent works and it doesn't have a rain sensor, all other electrics are fine its just the pump not getting any voltage. Do you know of any problems with the switch gears on the 996?

As i pull the lever towards me, the wipers go into fast mode but no working pump.

Since you do not have the rain sensor option I would look first at the intermittent wiper relay (since the pump signal goes through the same relay). it could be a bad stalk switch - that would be unusual (and difficult to change).

Thanks, that makes sense, i'll check it out and let you know.

I found the intermittent relay, pt no. 996 615 103 00 and swapped it with the one on my year 2000 gt3.

When i pulled the gt3 one, the intermittent stopped working but the screen washers still did. Both relays have the same pt. no. so i tried the gt2 relay in the gt3 and both inter and wash worked proving the relay is ok. Is there another relay i should be looking for for or is it starting to look like a stalk problem?

Hmm... the washer pump gets it's power from the intermittent wiper relay - unless you have the rain sensor option - in that case the power comes from the rain sensor relay. It is just power and ground at the pump itself. Did you check the (brown) ground wire at the pump?

If that is fine then the only thing left is the switch in the steering wheel.
