CD Changer CDC-4 Question

Here's the question: apparently there are at least two different part numbers associated with the CDC-4 cd changer: 996.645.140.00 and 996.645.140.02

Can anyone advise which one will be compatible for a 2003 996 TT with a CDR23 head unit (w/o navi)? As far as software is concerned, I hear that it's pretty much plug and play with the CDC-4 and CDR23. Why do I hear that may need to be programmed? Thanks for all/any insights!

While I am at it, what's the correct part # for the fiberoptic harness/cable? I saw one of Loren's postings but I am still confused. I am an audio techno idiot.

996.645.140.02 replaces 996.645.140.01. The parts list says it is okay to use 996.645.140.01 until the stock is gone. But you may want the Tequipment kit 000.044.900.72 which includes cables and mounting hardware (except the fiber optic cable).

The fiber optic cable you need will depend on the options already on the car (and whether the car is LHD or RHD).

Do you have the BOSE (option 680) or Harman (option 490) sound system? Do you have the telephone option?

Thanks for this information! I appreciate the clarification. The car is LHD and has the BOSE system. I dont have the phone option.

I think and please confirm that the parts in addition to the cd changer I still need are the harness 996-622-708-00 and bracket 996-645-229-00.
