Good day mates.....I just bought a CDC4 CD changer from Ebay.com, the seller said it is competable with Carrera, Cayenne and Boxster. When it arrived, I found out that the sound input in the CD changer is Optical, while the output sound wire in my 04 Cayenne is normal plug wire. By the way....the power plug is ok... Any ideas if still can install the CD changer ..??!!

( do they usually change the head of the wire in my car an replace it with an optical head or plug, is this possible ?! )

thank you, I am indeed grateful for your help.

Where should be optical connector with white plastic cup. OR you should route optical cables from other MOST devices. AND note, in any case? you should code your system at Porsche dealer.

There is a 15 page TSB for installation of the CDC-4 on a Cayenne. There are several variations depending on what options your car currently has. You will likely need to buy the correct interfacing fiber optic cables to make it work - as well once it is wired up you will need to have a dealer or shop with a PST2 (or PIWIS) tester code your system to know it is present.

If your Cayenne is prewired (like mine), you should find a optical wire hanging around where the CD changer should be. It is also lighted red when ignition.

The MOST fiber optical network, used for passing audio music data and entertainment system control commands, is a closed loop. That is, if the vehicle is built with the CD player and BOSE, there will be and in and an out of each component in the system, to form an unbroken loop.

So, as Loren said, follow the TSB, get the additional cables to augment and replace those on your vehicle, to permit this component to be added. Then, bring it to the dealership to have the CD player enabled.

My CS is 2005 & I had the CDC-4 put in yesterday. I didn't have to enable the CD changer. The CD changer works right after the two connectors plugged.
