Quick question guys, which fuse controls the luggage compartment light? Neither the owners manual nor does the fuse paperwork indicate a specific fuse. In mine the bulb is good but there's no light emanating. It's either a fuse or a sensor I'd say.

There isn't a specific fuse for that light. It is part of the alarm circuit so if the fuse were out then your door lights, engine compartment light, reading light. etc. would not work also. The other possibility is that the microswitch on the front hood latch is not functioning.

Try changing the bulb first and clean the light socket with contact cleaner. If no luck, measure the voltage at the socket line leading to the socket.

I removed the luggage compartment light fixture and plugged it into the engine compartment harness, worked like a charm. Looks like it's the microswitch as Loren suggested.

Loren, where is the microswitch? I took the front apart (where the latch is) but it's no where to be found. Hmmm!

Thanks Loren but yak! I didn't want to have to remove the latch...Don't know that the dinky light's worth the trouble....I'll ponder on it a while

I replaced the microswitch ($41 from Sunet) because the trunk light wasn't coming on and a new bulb didn't fix it. The replacement instructions in Loren's link were very helpful.

Warning - there is LOTS of play in the latch/mounting bolts and I'm still wrestling to get the latch aligned and keep the lid shut. It latches the first time but won't catch after a few open and close cycles. The bolts are plenty tight. Any ideas???

Is the safety catch bent? We have seen a few of those (from folks forcing the trunk closed). Get down at eye level with he latch and slowly close it and see if the safety latch is rubbing or not aligned properly.
