Glad to see they finally got the car in - sorry to have missed it last weekend.

I'm in No. Virginia this week, and stopped by Porsche of Tysons Corner tonight on the way back to my hotel room. I walked in asked if they had their Cayman in yet, and the salesman pointed to the car I just walked past with the hood up and a battery charger plugged in. They've had it on the floor for two weeks now, and he said most of the people coming in these days are there to look at the Cayman. They don't have it covered up - "too much work" - and they let anyone sit in it. It's kind of different looking, not sure if I like it or not. Maybe if they make it in a convertible version... :D Barely even noticed the black Carrera GT at the other end of the showroom!

Come back to the San Jose area around April as I will try to get Peter Smith to put on a Cayman tech session like he did for us last year for the 987. By then there should be some inventory that is not flying out the door so he can take one apart for us to look at.

The shape of the Cayman side vents looked the same as a 987 to me. The Cayman has an exposed air tube on the intake side that you do not see on the 987. However, after just a quick look it appeared if the Cayman vents attached differently than on a 987 so I cannot say for sure if you can put Cayman vents on a 987. I will have to get one of the mechanics to take another look with me to see if the Cayman vents will fit on a 987 without any modifications.

I spent about 20 minutes in the dealer looking at a launch car today. Loaded with options (NAV computer and sport-chrono.) Very nice looking in person. The front grill lights are sweet. The longer I looked the more I kept thinking it ought to come in a convertible.

I have since looked at 6 other Caymans and they did not have an exposed air tube like the launch car did. They all had a black plastic plate behind the grill, just like on a 987.

The first picture shows the air tube. In the second you cannot see it. Took a mechanic over to look at it. All we could figure out is that the part is missing.

i am pretty sure there is a plate there, like on the 987/987S

if you remove the plate, it looks like the launch car

I have seen a few of these cars in a distance on the freeway and take off after them to get a better look what at what I think is a Cayman. Once I get close enough to see what I have been catching up to....

First one that I have seen in a parking lot, so I was able to take a picture of it.

I just saw my first Chrysler Crossfire convertible yesterday, commented to my wife how similar the back end was to the Cayman, Tool Pants, you picture proves it...

Saw the Cayman roof rack today.

Of course, if you had Boxster, you would not need one when the surf is up.
