I've seen someone posted pictures of their Cayenne with an Alpine flip-up unit installed, but I haven't heard of any news on the Pioneer thingy.

I called an audio shop today and was told that the audio system in Cayenne has to be majorly modified to be made compatible with AVIC-N2.

So here comes with my questions. Is it necessary to crack it like that? How did you guys deal with it?

As some of you who visited the For Sale forum may have seen that I am selling my PCM2. It is not 2.1, so it only has one CD drive, and none of the PCM's has a touch screen. Do you think it's worth to install it instead of the flip-up's?

Thanks for your comments.

I installed a Pioneer AVIC N2 in my Cayenne - with XM, vehicle dynamics, etc. No problems on the install. Installers made a custom faceplate. Looks great. Install took two days. It's been in my car 10 months. Works perfectly.

Perfect timing for this discussion. I'm looking to install the AVIC-N2 in the next few weeks. Any DIY'ers out there who have experienced installing this themselves? Or is it that difficult that I need to go to a shop to have it installed?

Mike, for your Cayenne install, do the steering wheel controls and the dashboard display work?

Thanks.

I just purchased an '06 Cayenne S Titanium  and am glad I came across this thread. I currently have a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 and wanted to swap out the head unit but retain the Bose speaker configuration. I am having a hard time finding an adapter for the factory Cam bus/fiber to be able to accomplish this. It sounds like it has been done successfully and was wondering if anyone could give some insight of how it was done and what adaptors were used to make it work.

1 - All Cayennes have been fibre optic since inception.

2 - there is a unit to inteface with the fibre bus in pace of the changer, it costs around $550 plus fitting, manufacturer Denision
