hey guys!

this is kindof embarrasing to say but is an bmw m3 faster than a C4S? i'm probably not the greatest in manual shifting yet (since i just started 5 months ago with no formal training). i've kind-of raced 2 M3s recently. it seems that it's not that easy to chase after one, those things seem to handle as well as a c4s and seem just as fast in accelerating. anybody know whats going on? i know the specs are similar, but it's a porsche!

thanks,

jason

Depending on the year, there are a *bunch* of mods out there, some of them relatively cheap (at least in Porsche dollars). e46 M3 is 333hp with good high rpm power. e36 is only 240 but can be modded for relatively little money to put out *lots* more.

As they say, there's always someone faster out there and Speed is money, how fast ya wanna spend. :D

Driver's being equal, you should handle the M3.

Isnt the C4S coupe lighter then the E46 M3 coupe? So with the M3's 13 horse power advantage it should be a drivers race given a 6spd. I think BMWs SMG is lightning quick, so a SMG M3 might have a slight advantage.

Going to Motor Trends site they list the following

2004 C4S

0-60 4.6 (seems fast)

1/4 mile 12.9 @ 108.7

2005 BMW M3 Comptetition Package

0-60 4.8

1/4 mile 13.3 @ 104.4

Of course every magazine has different numbers, car and driver had totally different numbers for their m3 for when it was new and when it had 40K on it so I didnt know what set to use.

I've never had any problems lapping m3's at the track, frankly they just get in the way. I don't usually 'street race' , but a m3 just could't keep up with me tonight on the LIE.

Not sure a porsche is a great car to learn a manual on, drive a beater is a better way to learn.
