Chrome Exhaust tips C2S

Has anyone had the exhaust tips chromed and if so how much were you charged?

You should be able to get them done at a reputable, local electroplating shop for about $20 - $40 each. The prep time to polish them smooth is the key - any small surface irregularities will show after chroming. Too thin a plating deposition will result in peeling as well. Do some web searches for platers in your area that specialize on auto work.

It is much easier to simply polish the stainless steel tips on a buffing wheel. They come out looking great, and are easier and cheaper to maintain than trying to chrome plate them.

Anybody know of a replacement for the phony-balony quad exhaust tips on a 997-1 C2S? I'd rather have two big tips than four fake ones.

I think any of the aftermarket makers (like Fabspeed, Tubi etc.) have the 996 single chrome (or polished) tips that would work on the 997. Give them a call and ask them.. I had their (Fabspeed) tips on my old 996 and they were sweet.

I stand corrected....

I checked the Fabspeed site and it appears that the 996 and 997 is a totally different design for the way the tips connect.

Fabspeed has these. They look a lot nicer than the stock(to me.)

Holy COW!! Aftermarket sellers want anything from $800 to $1200 just for the TIPS!! What are these guys smokin'?! I guess I'll just have to live with 'phony-balony'.

From what I have read the new 2009 997.2 non-S tips fit directly on the 997.1 S exhaust. Even with factory pricing they may be the cheapest solution to your 'issue'.

Hey, thanks johnstoy! I just looked at an '09 (I can dream, can't I?), and I didn't even think to look at the exhaust tips. I'll get a quote from Sunset after a while. Gonna need new brakes and skins soon.
